Last day of term

Yesterday was the last day of term, so the school is now closed for the holidays.

Children in assembly on the last day of term

Before closing we held an assembly where the teachers talked to the children about how they did during the term and encouraged them to keep learning. We will reopen on 3 May. Continue reading “Last day of term”

Money for textbooks has been raised!

We are delighted to report that someone (who wishes to remain anonymous) has donated the full amount required to buy the books. This is wonderful news and will make a huge difference to the children at our school. THANK YOU!

Fundraising for new textbooks – can you help?

We have finally received the list of new books that we need to buy because of the changes to the Kenyan primary school curriculum. We want to buy them as soon as possible – it is not easy to teach children without the correct textbooks – so are appealing for your help to raise the money required.

The total cost for all the books is 159,760 Kenyan Shillings (around US$1597). We have already raised 46,000 Shillings (US$460), so we still need another 113,760 Shillings (US$1137). Continue reading “Fundraising for new textbooks – can you help?”

Although everything was supposed to be ready for the new curriculum to start at the beginning of this year, this is not the case and there is a lot of confusion about exactly how and when it will be rolled out. The book list we were given in November was not correct and we are still waiting for the Ministry of Education to release the corrected version. This means that we do not know which books we will need to buy and how much they will cost. Once we have more information on what is happening we will let you know.

CVC opens for new school year

We have opened for the new school year!

Children with donated Bibles

Because of the changes in the curriculum this year, Kenyan schools now only have two pre-primary classes instead of three. This means we will no longer have a Baby Class for the youngest children, so will have a few less students than we did last year. Continue reading “CVC opens for new school year”
